New Orleans Social Ride Lower 9th Ward ride looking at Green.jpgThis is an extra-special event, as we are teaming up a lot of great organizations to make this a very memorable ride, including:
Bike Easy
Sierra Club
Holy Cross Neighborhood Association
The Make it Right Foundation

We will be riding through the lower ninth ward to raise awareness about green building recovery efforts in the area, check out the Bayou Beinvenue overlook, and take a tour of a Make It Right home. For more information (and approximate ride schedule) check Bike Easy's Site

For theme-lovers, the costume theme theme is "Mid-Summer Mardi Gras" this week, in homage of the Krewe of O.A.K.'s Mid-Summer Mardi Gras parade this Saturday.  So grab your extra beads, and some candy for throws, and dust off a Mardi Gras Costume!

We are meeting at Vaughn's Lounge (http://bit.ly/oLAbFB) at 6:00PM, and will be starting the ride at 7:00PMPlease note the earlier start time!  We will end the ride back at Vaughn's Lounge for a true New Orleans Thursday night tradition, Kermit Ruffin's & the BBQ Swingers!

Please get a contact number of someone on the ride in case you run late.

We can hold the ride up for a few minutes, but not too long as we have lots of scheduled stops.

As always:
-Please bring yourself, and something to share
-Put air in your tires, oil the chain
-Bring a patch kit, wrench and an extra tube
-Respect all drivers
-Leave no trace
-Costumes and outrageous clothing are encouraged!
-Lights! You can never have too many!
-Safety, First Last

PLEASE NOTE:
We will be in an area with very little/to no amenities. Bring your supplies.  There are also snakes, bugs and all kinds of things that you should be on the lookout for, especially during stops!

We want thank all who have helped put this very special ride together and everyone that comes out to the rides each week. We hope your presence and energy will help make sure everyone that we pass on this special ride will have a Happy Thursday!

Have a Happy Thursday, Everyday!

This week is the
"Sponsor My Life" Ride!

Think NASCAR-style ads: take your cereal box top, your favorite cookies, chips, etc and tape the packaging to your bike! Any type of brand-oriented satire is encouraged!

**Please note, we recommend that you use painters tape***

We will be meeting behind Ernst Cafe (http://bit.ly/psX2to) at 6:30PM to eat, drink, and be merry until we hit the streets at 7:30pm. From there we will take it around the CBD & Irish Channel, since we hit the French Quarter this past week.

Please take note of a few things;
-LIGHTS, front & rear- its the law here and it's one we believe in (safety #1)
-Stay to the right & let cars pass on 2 lane roads
-Get a patch kit, pump or extra tube {flats happen every week!}
-Put air in your tires, lube your chain, tighten your nuts
-Bring something to share
-We encourage costumes, or anything outrageous, be it in the theme or not, its just fun
-We respect all drivers, no matter what they drive!
-We leave no trace (Thursday is not trash day)
-Safety, First and Last

Have a HAPPY THURSDAY, everyday!

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Dress RED Ride.jpgThis week is the "DRESS RED RIDE"!

We picked this theme to honor our fellow freaky New Orleans VooDoo Hashers, who are also doing their thing this Thursday night. So wear something red!

We will meet at Finn's (http://bit.ly/qjFYoq) at 6:30pm to eat, drink and chill. We will take the ride to the streets at 7:30pm.

Please remember a few things:
-Bring something to share
-Put air in your tires
-Oil your chain
-Pack a patch kit or tube or pump or wrench
-Lights, on your front, rear, side and everywhere

Also:
-We obey the law when/where applicable
-We respect all drivers, no matter what they drive
-Always stay aware of traffic!
-We leave no trace, no trash

FYI:
-As we grow into a lager group, we need ride rangers to make drivers aware of the bike traffic *BUT* as seen this past ride, some drivers WILL NOT stop. please keep this in mind and always give yourself enough room to move away.
-Safety will always be 1st & last

Lastly,
-Less Gears=More Cheers
-Happy Thursday Everyday!

Happy Thursday!
We have put before you another sexy, fun theme. So please find some sexy, fun pajamas & start dreaming of how much fun cruising around our beautiful city is! Join us this Thursday & we will make your dreams come true!

250335_677048916838_45700769_34404330_6288421_n.jpgWe have also moved the UPTOWN start! The new start spot is SQUEAL Bar-B-Q for a couple of reasons:
- they are offering us food & drink deals
- there is plenty of outside seating
- it is away from a busy intersection
- bathrooms
- we think this will the vibe we our looking for

The start location address is
8400 Oak St in New Orleans.  If you need directions, a google map is available here.  Please check our facebook page for more information and a roll call.

Please note we moved up the meet-up time to 6:30pm...this is to allow people to sit down and enjoy a proper meal at our new venue.  We will still depart around 7:30pm

Just some things to think about:
- we RESPECT all drivers, no matter what they are driving
- we only take up ONE lane of traffic
- we wait ONE cycle at a traffic light (this lets all riders catch up)
- we leave NO TRACE! (which means we pick up after ourselves)
- please be prepared so bring tools, a patch kit, or tube or a wrench (riders need help sometimes)
- please light up your bike, it makes you safer
- please bring something to share

We wanna thank "RIDE RANGERS!" You help us get through intersections safely, thank you!

LESS GEARS=MORE CHEERS!

HAPPY THURSDAY everyday!
