July 2012 Archives

This week is the "We Are The World" Ride!  Wear your favorite international clothing and/or costumes!

We are meeting at Dat Dog at 7PM, which is located at 5030 Freret St, to eat, drink and hang out until 7:30-7:45.  From there we'll take it to the streets of Uptown and bring the Happy Thursday cheer with an international twist!

We want to welcome all of our new riders that have joined us! Here are some tips to make your ride safer, and more fun:

- Please get lights, front and rear! (an aside - "They are fun!") They also keep you safe and they are the law!
- Please stay to the right, be it a 1, 2, or 5 lane street. You never know when a car will make a quick turn, and we want to be safe & respectful.
- Please pass the word backwards and forwards, as riders will shout warnings whether it be "stop, pothole, glass, car back, walker up, slow down, flat tire, etc" Also speak up if you see anything!
- Know your bicycle, your limits, and be aware of the people and objects around you. Everyone rides at their own risk.
- Get the phone number of a regular rider, in case you are running late, fall behind, or get lost!
- Please keep up with the group, and help keep everyone together!
- If you need assistance, flag down on of our Ride Rangers.

As always;
- We put safety first
- We respect all drivers, no matter what they drive
- We obey all laws
- We leave NO TRACE!
- Costumes are optional, but encouraged!

Please;
- Bring a friend or two or three
- Bring something to share
- Bring a spare tube, some tools, and a pump

Don't Forget to
- Tighten your nuts
- Lube your chain
- Inflate your tires

Have a Happy Thursday, Everyday!

We are meeting up at the 12Bar at 7pm to enjoy some food and drinks. It's located at 608 Fulton Street. Click here for directions.  We will be hanging around until 7:30pm-ish and then taking it to the streets of the CBD & French Quarter!

Most riders feel this is the best ride we do! It might be the parking garages or the views of the great buildings, but really we think it is all the people that we get to shout "HAPPY THURSDAY" to!

This weeks theme will be "No Pants".  Yes, sans pantalons, sin pantalones, senza pantaloni.  The Freedom From Pants Ride in Minneapolis was the inspiration for this event.

The 5th of July.jpgThis weeks theme will be, "The 4th of July, the day after"

We are meeting at DAT DOG on Freret St. at 7pm to eat, drink & hang.  The ride won't leave until 7:30pm.  They are located at 5031 Freret St (click on the address for bicycling directions). There is ample bike parking and wonderful outdoor seating, plus the food is great!

From there we'll take it to the streets of Uptown!  Now just because its the "5th of July", that doesn't mean we still can't celebrate our independence!  Come dressed in RED, WHITE & BLUE or just leave your outfit from the day before!  The ride will terminate at a different watering hole this time.  One of our members has opened his house up to us to enjoy as we wind down from the ride.  He has a pool table, large jacuzzi, and plenty of hospitality.  We will ride through the Uptown neighborhood and end in the Black Pearl area.
